Vector drawing in Inkscape

A vector image is made up of points, lines and arcs. It can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. There are a few ways to create in inkscape and below is just one of them.
STEP 1: Find or hand sketch the image you want to trace over. The image is only a guide to get you started. Your final drawing with be your version.

STEP 2: Load an image
File menu- Import
Choose embed

STEP 3: Open required panels
Open the following 2 pallettes:
Layers (Shift+Ctrl+L)
Fill and Stroke (Shift+Ctrl+F)

STEP 4: Lock and name layer
The image you brought in lands on layer 1. Lock the layer and rename it if you wish.

STEP 5: Make more layers
Add a new layer for your outline drawing. Name it outline.

STEP 6: Select your drawing tool
Click on the benzier line tool.

STEP 7: Add straight lines
Rough out a curved shape with straight lines by clicking on the ends of a curves (make a judgement call)

STEP 9: Make lines thicker
When your lines are selected; on the Stroke Style panel, adjust the line thickness to a width you like.

STEP 10: Continue to add more shapes with straight lines, and then curving them.
STEP 12: Add fills
Select a part to fill
On the fill menu use the solid box. Colors can be selected from here or from the bottom of your screen

STEP 13: Reorder parts
Page Up on your keyboard will move a selected part up above another part on the same layer.
Page Down will move a selected part down
