Drawing to scale in Sketchup
Sketch-up can be used to make precise plans for woodwork, 3d modelling and architectural design. Try the following exercises.
Draw a circle that has a radius of 300mm. Draw a second one the is .25inches.(.25")
Just like before, click where you want to start the rectangle, start dragging the shape, but before clicking again, type in the size of the rectangle by putting in 2 numbers separated by a comma. eg: 500,300
By default that will be in millimeters. If you want to use inches: type the number followed by"
example 20",.25"
Try drawing a rectangle that is 6.35mm by 300mm. Draw another one that is .5inches by 10 inches.

To draw a polygon you need to tell sketch-up the number of sides first. Then to make it a specific size: click to start, drag in one direction, type in the radius.
Make a 5 sided polygon that is 600 mm wide. (remember that sketch-up uses radius, not diameter)
The push-pull tool also can work with dimensions. Select one of your object faces with the push-pull tool, type in a number followed by the enter key.
